Rebates and Incentives (Charging)

Save with HLPD’s “Dollar a Gallon” EV Rewards! (Off-peak Charging Program)

Sign up for this valuable EV rewards program open to Hudson and Stow residents. Simply set your car to charge between 10 pm and 9 am on weekdays and complete the enrollment process. You then earn an $10 a month credit on your HLPD electric bill for Level 2 charging or an $5 a month credit on your HLPD electric bill for Level 1 charging. HLPD having some of the lowest electric rates in MA, this could be like paying just one dollar per gallon equivalent of electric driving mileage!*

You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Own or lease an EV, either a battery electric vehicle (BEV) that runs exclusively on electricity, or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) that runs on electricity but can also switch to gas/electric hybrid mode. You will need to show proof of the electric vehicle (for example: registration)
  • Have a HLPD residential electric account that you use to charge your EV
  • Charge at Level 1 (120 volts) or Level 2 (240 volts)

*$1 per gallon equivalent is based on an average EV efficiency and average miles driven per month combined with HLPD’s low electric rate and a $10 bill credit, as compared to an average compact/mid-size gasoline only vehicle. Actual cost per e-gallon equivalent will vary depending on vehicle efficiency and the number of miles driven per month. HLPD reserves the right to monitor compliance of vehicle charging times. If a customer charges their EV during the weekday on-peak time period, the customer will not receive the monthly off-peak charging incentive on their next billing cycle. Incentive eligibility will resume for the following month. This program is available as funds last. HLPD reserve the right to change these parameters at any point. Please allow 8-10 weeks for processing.

Get $500 back with the Level 2 Smart Charging Rebate Program

HLPD is offering EV owners a rebate of $500 to help offset the cost of installing some or all components of a Smart, WiFi capable Level 2 system for higher speed charging of an electric vehicle at your home if they are currently charging at Level 1. Customers will then be eligible to enroll in HLPD’s “Dollar a Gallon” EV rewards program described above.

A Level 2 charging system typically consists of a 240 volt wiring circuit from your house electrical panel to an optional NEMA 14-50 or similar outlet and home EV charging station (aka EVSE, short for Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment).

The rebate may be used to pay for a licensed electrician’s services, electrical and/or the charging equipment. The rebate provided will be $500 or the amount of documented, eligible charging system expenditures, whichever is less.
